after a search of his vehicle officials found two recently-killed eagles and a hawk. the also seized two wings from two other recently killed hawks and 124 separate eagle and hawk feathers according to a ndow game warden... mcivor claimed he was keeping the raptor parts for ceremonial purposes. eagle feathers are often sold and traded illegally to be used in native american celebrations and for profit in international markets. the game warden could be worth as much as $10-thousand dollars. in nevada... a u-s-f-w-s permit is required to be in possession of raptors and raptor parts. the presidential candidates are hitting the ground running in new hampshire. some... trying to build on the momentum of iowa.. while others are trying to get back on track. while the republicans had a clear winner.. the democrats are stuck in a virtual tie. abc's marci gonzalez has the latest script:

2014-15 became a benchmark year for the school district. while nevada is once again ranked last in education... this district proves it is outperforming other school districts in, test scores, attendance and graduation rates. "traci: we didn't have one comprehensive school with a graduation rate of under 73 percent, which is the first time in history that has happened in washoe county. " now... it's being awarded a private grant of 13 million dollars that will span 13 years to help close gaps that may impede a student's success. but right now... the school district is at a breaking point with overcrowding schools and underfunded infrastructures... its' so bad that if new schools aren't built... in the next five years...double sessions are inevitable. "traci: kids are going to the bus stop at 5 in the morning, getting out of school at 12, the next shift at coming in at 1 and get out at 5 or six and how that impacts sports or bands. it's the

district wide-- the repairs to existing schools total more than 250 million dollars plus hundreds of millions dollars more to build new schools. that is why a 781 million dollar bond measure will be on the ballot this november. paying for the bond would mean possibly raising taxes. shaun carey, buildourschools.com, " you would need approxmiately a half cent increase in our sales tax rate and that equates to about $8 a month for a family of four. $8 a month would provide you greatly improved schools and if you did this on property tax would be about $10 a month." advocates for the bond say if voters don't pass the measure -- the school district could start double sessions and impose year round school for elementary schools. you can add your input this thursday at 6 p-m at the washoe county commissioner chambers. the fight over solar power in the silver state continues to heat up.

increases approved by regulators in december. now n-v energy is proposing "grandfathering" some solar customers. yesterday n-v energy proposed seven ways it could work. one would allow the lower rates for existing solar customers if they installed or applied for their system by september 10th, 2015. another proposal would have the higher rates take effect over the course of 4 years. and another option would let customers keep the old rates for 20 years. the nevada public utilities commission will hold a hearing on the moratorium proposal on february 8th. some waste managemet customers will have to wait a little longer before their trash is collected. our recent storm caused dangerous road conditions for waste management crews in the areas listed on your screen. trash is expected to be collected later this week. otherwise, waste management will take extra bags without excess waste stickers on them-- next monday. ### state and local officials are working together to help teens and young adults who

the world health organization has declared the zika virus outbreak in the americas an international emergency. this comes after a meeting with world health officials yesterday. officials in honduras are reporting more than 36-hundred cases of the virus and have declared a state of national emergency. the community and public officials in the central american country have begun destroying mosquito breeding sites around schools. the virus is transmitted by mosquitos and linked to a birth defect that causes babies to be born with abnormally small heads. detained oregon militia leader ammon bundy's father, cliven bundy, has ordered protesters to keep occupying the malhaur wildlife refuge. this, after ammon bundy urged the remaining four protesters to turn themselves in. cliven bundy sent a notice to the harney county sheriff to remove all federal and state policing agents out of harney county. protesters took over the refuge on january 2nd, denouncing federal land policies. group leader ammon bundy and ten others

week -- and one protest was shot dead by police. ammon bundy will be back in court today. police in georgia say they got a tip about a possible d-u-i.. from inside the car. mike petchenik reports when the driver wouldn't pull over.. her daughter called 9-1-1. --reporter pkg-as follows-- "we received a 911 call reporting a dui." when roswell police responded to this location on old scott road last weekend, they already had a good idea about what was going on inside deborah miller's car. that's because the call had come from inside it. "she noticed her mom was weaving all over the road. she asked her mom several times to pull over. her friends were in the car." ...so when miller didn't pull over, officer lisa holland says the woman's 16-year-old daughter picked up the phone and called to report her. "we have to commend the daughter for calling and reporting this. she was concerned with her safety and the safety of her mom." miller's now facing d-u-i charges.
